THE CONCEPT
In the Far East, China and India are forecast to dominate world markets in future. Between these emerging industrial giants is ASEAN.
Our aim is to be the leading networking vehicle, by organizing meetings in cities within the ASEAN area and also in places outside the region wishing to develop ASEAN links. In tandem, we seek to encourage members' contacts, and to explore new ways of serving our members.
With the floundering economies in Europe and mature markets in US, Asia is increasingly seen as the source of future growth for the multinationals and the global trading community.
As the pace of globalization quickens, it creates both new markets and competitors, the ASEAN regional grouping with a combined middle class bigger than that of China or India also shares the centre stage with the two economic giants - A region bridging China and India with the rest of the world.
ASEAN has become one of the key driving forces in the Asian economy: global companies are looking to ASEAN in many cases to engage with China, India and Indonesia. It presents a new enabling environment for international alliances and business partnering, allowing even the risk averse investors to increasingly share in the opportunities and rewards presented by a diverse and in some cases, a risky investment and trading landscape in Asia.
HOW MEMBERS WILL BENEFIT
A networking opportunity to gain first hand knowledge of the state of play in respective industry sectors in each country. An organization which seeks to identify and satisfy, where feasible, the business needs of its members. Through seminars and forums organized to bring members closer to decision makers and opinion formers both in the public and private sectors that drive change in the world around us. Events and lectures are arranged for members to meet like-minded individuals to hone their business acumen. To recommend commercial economic solutions to development problems through collaboration between the private and public sector. To engage in dialogue with business and government to contribute to programmes, to build capacity for human resource development planning and delivery.
